Accounting Updates
Bill Payments Check API
This update will enable users to apply payments to Bills using the Striven API. For more information about Striven’s APIs, check out our API Reference page.
Expense Type Update
Previously, Expenses could only be configured by “Amount” to be marked as billable. With this release, we have added the ability to configure Expenses to be marked by “Qty” as billable by default.
Generate Time & Expense Invoices Update
A usage limit has been applied to the Generate Time & Expense Invoices page. With this update, you will be able to generate a batch queue of 100 T&E Invoices to process at a time.
Transactions Posting Journal Update
We have two (2) updates relating to the Posting Journal for transactions this release. The first update is for enhancements made to the UI to increase the efficiency of the page when loading and viewing the Posting Journal. The other update is the added ability to view the page on an Accrual or Cash basis. By default, the Accrual option will be selected when viewing the Posting Journal, but you will now have the option to switch the setting to Cash if desired.
Cash Basis Postings Update
Our Cash Basis Postings has been reconfigured to utilize COGS accounts more efficiently. Instead of having your Sales Receipts, Credit Card Charges, Credit Card Refunds, and Inventory Adjustments hitting your Assets account, they will appropriately reflect on your COGS account.
Calendar Updates
External Appointment Lead Time
Avoid missed appointments by setting a Lead Time for External Appointment Links. This new feature eliminates the need for buffer times and ensures you receive timely notifications, allowing you to prepare effectively for your meetings. Available appointment slots will be determined by adding the Lead Time to the current time and verifying if the result is within the available hours. Learn more about configuring your External Appointment Links by visiting the External Appointment Links section of our Appointments Support Guide.
Calendar Event Limits
A limit has been imposed on Calendar Events to provide more efficient and quick loading calendars. Users will be able to add up to 20 events per calendar. If you have a Calendar that already has more than 20 Events, once the extras are removed they will not be able to be replaced and you won’t be able to add more.
Communication Updates
Send Email Updates
The Send Email feature now allows you to search for Email Recipients using filters from the new Report Builder update. The previous filter functionality will still be accessible by toggling the “Use the new Report Builder” switch to off. Read more about using the updated filtering options with the Send Email feature in our Send Email Support Guide.
Dashboard Updates
New Transaction Widget
With the addition of our new Transactions widget, you will now be able to conveniently view all transactions related to a Customer/Vendor from the My Dashboard or any custom Dashboards. Your top ten (10) most recent transactions will be readily available at a glance, or you can use the filters in the Settings to narrow these results.
Transaction details displayed on the widget include transaction Type, Number, Date, and Amount. If the widget is viewed from a Customer/Vendor Dashboard, it will only display the transaction details, and only the Type may be filtered within the widget settings.
Employee Updates
User Role Management Update
There’s a new search filter on the User Role Management page for Can Assign Role. This filter will allow the user to select a role or type-ahead for a specific role.
Time Off Approval Update
The “Time Off - Self Approve” permission now has a limitation setting at the Time Off Category level. You can select Do Not Allow Self-Approval to disable self-approval for specific Time Off Categories. This new option allows your organization’s Management to have more control over the approval process for certain Time Off Categories.
When this setting is enabled, requests using that Category will be saved as pending, awaiting approval. If the user entering the request has the “Time Off - Approve For All Employees” permission, this will override this new feature and will still self-approve the request. For more information on configuring your Time Off Categories, read our Time Off Management Support Guide.
Sales Order Permission Update
There is now a new User Role permission related to Sales Orders called “Sales Orders - Add/Edit (only Items View)” that will provide the ability to view or edit a Sales Order in a simplified Item View format. This removes the monetary values from the page and only displays the Item Names, Descriptions, and Qty.
Inventory Updates
Inventory Adjustment Import Update
Two (2) new columns have been added to the Inventory Adjustment Import mapping for quicker and smoother importing experiences. You will now be able to add Item ID and Item Number to your sample file to include that data when importing your Inventory Adjustments.
Item Group Descriptions Update
When creating a Purchase Order from a Sales Order, all of the Item Descriptions within an Item Group will carry over into the Purchase Order from the Items directly. This ensures that changes made to Item Descriptions in the Sales Order’s Item Groups do not affect the Purchase Order.
Price List Update
Now you will be able to view the Cost for Items on the Price List as a read-only label.
Unit of Measure (UoM) Update
Previously, there was a restriction related to the value of base units on Units of Measure that prevented the value from being less than one (1). However, this limitation has been removed, allowing for values smaller than the base unit to be used for a Unit of Measure. This allows you to add Items to an Invoice and change the selected Unit of Measure to something smaller than the base unit and the system will automatically calculate the price accordingly.
Value Inventory Adjustment Update
In Striven, Inventory Items can have purchase costs with up to five (5) decimal places, while Asset Values are rounded to two (2) decimal places. This can lead to inaccurate Asset Values for items with zero (0) quantity. With this release, you can use an Inventory Adjustment for Value to correct these inaccurate values.
To adjust the Asset Value to zero (0), create a Value Type Inventory Adjustment with the opposite amount of the current Asset Value. For example, if the Asset Value is $0.01, enter -$0.01 in the Inventory Adjustment. This adjustment will update the Inventory Asset Account and bring the Asset Value to zero (0).
Portal Updates
Portal Roles Update
Default Portal Roles can now be configured at the Customer/Vendor level, allowing Contacts associated with these accounts to have a Portal Role which overrides any Company level defaults. Please see the Customer/Vendor Portal Settings section of our Customer/Vendor Portal Guide for more information about this update.
Project Updates
Project Audit Log Update
Changes to Milestone Dates will now be captured and displayed in Project Audit Logs.
Report Updates
Sales Order Profitability Report Update
There is a new Search filter on the Sales Order Profitability Report to allow you to search by Sales Rep.
Map IT Updates
The Map IT feature is available on reports that contain geographic information and allows you to view report data as pins on a map. This provides a visual of all the results to provide an overview of your data. Datasets that utilize the Map IT feature include Candidate Applications, Customer/Vendor Contacts, Customer/Vendor Locations, Customers, Employees, Projects, Sales Orders, Tasks, and Vendors.
Tasks Updates
New Merge Fields on Task Formats
There are some new additions to the merge fields list in Task Formats.
- Attachment Type Custom Fields are now available as a merge field in the Task Formats Settings so you can add images directly on your Task Formats.
- Customer Location Name and Customer Location Address have also been added as merge fields to the Task Format Settings.
Asset Status on Tasks Update
The Asset drop-down menu on Tasks will now display the status of the Asset in addition to its name to assist you in choosing the correct Asset.
Tax Updates
Shipping & Handling Tax Update
Tax on Shipping & Handling will now be controlled at the Tax Agency level. On transactions, the Tax checkbox for Shipping & Handling Items will automatically be enabled or disabled depending on the Tax Agency settings. The Taxable checkbox for Shipping & Handling Items has been removed from the Item Info page.
Workflows Updates
Workflow Recurrence Update
Workflows can now be set to a maximum of 2000 days for recurrences.
Workflow/Report Builder Update
Create new Workflows or update existing ones to try out our new Report Builder filters. For now, you will still be able to access the previous Report Builder filter design, but if you would like to try out the new version, click the Use New Report Builder button. This exciting update arrives in tandem with the Report Builder Revamp, so it will be in Beta mode when first released. For more information about the new Report Builder, check out our New Report Builder Guide.
