Name of Feature/Request: Relate Builds to Tasks & Sales Orders
What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: Allow the ability for an Item Build to be associated with a Sales Order or a Task. | Frequency: For those affected, it arises multiple times per day, at minimum 5x/day, at most 20x/day. | A lot of manufacturers are made-to-order businesses as opposed to building items for stock.
This also means that since each build directly relates to an order, having a more direct connection to the order would help users navigate from the build to the order a lot easier.
This request is to accomplish better relation and navigation from build to order.
Attempted Solutions So Far: I’ve suggested the following options to help with this:
SO# as the Build Reference #
SO# in the Build Memo
SO# in a custom field
These allow the user to show the SO# on a pick list, fab sheet, and report. These don’t allow the user to go to the sales order easily or allow connectivity as it would be desired.
Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven in what system or software: Original Description: "I often talk to customers who would love the ability to tie an item build to a task or a sales order to provide more connectivity and clarity.
A lot of the time, especially in custom manufacturing builds are made when ordered. Having a way to connect the build to a sales order would be helpful to show which order the build is fulfilling. It would also be helpful to connect a build to a task to provide a way to assign work to departments/machines/roles to build a manufactured item." | Previously accomplished: Adding Order Numbers to the Build Memo, as the Build Number, or a custom field on the Build.
