Name of Feature/Request: Items on the Sales Order to flow to the Task
What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: : To have Items on a Sales Order transfer to a Task | Frequency: Weekly | Manual effort to add to internal notes and crews in field need to call up the estimate (sales order) to “See” what work needs to be completed. Currently scheduler fills out in the work order (task). Lots of manual effort.
Attempted Solutions So Far: Put the items in internal notes and have the setting for the estimate (sales order) type to allow to transfer to a work order (task)
Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven in what system or software: Original Description: : Manual effort to add to internal notes and crews in field need to call up the estimate (sales order) to “See” what work needs to be completed. Currently scheduler fills out in the work order (task). Lots of manual effort. | Previously accomplished: Some items are being listed in internal notes; custom legacy software, majority is work order driven
@DBricker We think we’ve created a work around on this that is so far so good. I let @Sam know about it today in a call with him. Our employee, @Joe , with MS Access skills created this:
It works quite well and the “NO” you see second from the right is referencing whether the custom column on the sales order is marked “INSTALLED/DELIVERED”. We are only a week into this but it’s working thus far. We just print it out in the AM before they load.
That looks good! We have a similar system we use now, but our customs columns are ‘Stage’ (Rough-in, Finish, Final), Qty In (Qty Installed), and Qty Need (Qty Still Needed). I also added a date modified audit system for tracking to the worksheet.
Next month, I’m starting on a mobile app to put Tasks and Sales Orders together in a reasonable way, using the API.
Seeing it is cool, and when they are loading at the warehouse they always have WiFi, but interacting with it in a useful way, without stress on the support staff, would be better.
There is no stage/pick/return process for parts in Striven, resulting in the need of a separate system. The people in the field, if performing a multi-trip installation (rough-in, finish, final) need to be able to indicate what parts on the sales order were used, what parts are still needed to finish, what parts are no longer needed, and what parts need to be added - somehow.
Making it worse, is that 30%-40% of our jobs have no cell service, so Striven isn’t available at all to the service teams, resulting in two completely separate processes - one for if there is data service, one for paper forms (or Jotform in our case) for when there isn’t data service. There are 2 missing API endpoints needed for me to complete the cycle with a custom app integration - Time Entry/ClockIn/ClockOut and Serial/Lot number tracking. If those were added, I can finish that build.
The ability to create Default Tasks from the Sales Order is helpful. It would be a trickle-down welcomed enhancement if these Default Tasks from the Sales Order can then be completely transferred to a Project when Action/Create Project is selected from the actual Sales Order. Included in these Default Tasks being transferred to a Project created from the Sales Order if the Sales Order and Location are transferred with these Default Sales Order Tasks.
Currently, creating a Project from Sales Order doesn’t transfer Tasks or Sales Order nor does it allow an Assignment to the appropriate person by a User-Full Access.
Time Savings: Eliminating need for user to edit each individual Task in the created Project to include the Location and Assignment. Projects with 20+ Tasks as customary in professional services industry (Arch, Engineering, Construction) take considerable time for user to make all these individual changes. Alternate Option: Mass Edit by selecting all Tasks in Project when the select box is checked then in the “i” info window, changing the Location and Assignment person as well as verifying Sales Order is accurate for the Project Tasks would be major time savings. Please consider for Striven’s A/E/C Customers.
