Discussion Threads and people out of the "office"

Name of Feature/Request: Discussion Threads and people out of the “office”

What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: Fully automated - Striven uses the shift + time off status of an employee and intelligently provides an automated reply when a discussion thread is used | Frequency: when someone is off, doesn’t have a shift or may just be out of office | After testing and experimenting with this the below still makes sense as it would be an improvement over the existing auto response feature.
Currently if I was out, I’d need to remember to turn this on and remember to turn this off.
Here are the ideal situations (in my opinion)

  1. Fully automated - Striven uses the shift + time off status of an employee and intelligently provides an automated reply when a discussion thread is used - something to the effect of does not have a shift at this time, response to your inquiry may be delayed and if you need immediate assistance _____________________ (fill in the blank with what makes sense) - likely a phone number to call in
    Pros: • Completely automated, no action required by an employee before or after being away • Use of time off and shift information is already in striven and hopefully up to date • Intelligently sets expectations
    Cons• Requires some business logic to be applied to make it work well • Needs a company level stance on what that default immediate assistance should be
  2. Time Based - just like a Gmail out of office response, allow bounds to be set so there’s a turn on at and turn off at that way it can be setup ahead of time similarly to the gmail ooo without direct intervention and still allow the user to specify the message.
    Pros: • Allows for granular control by the employee for both the timing and the message • Mimics the out of office reply in every other system that can generate an OOO
    Cons: • Back to manual intervention but if someone is setting a gmail ooo this can follow suit

Attempted Solutions So Far: Before I was made aware that there’s an auto response feature this is how it was handled - check discussion thread emails when you are on vacation is the only current means for this (side note, this is not a well known feature)

Now that I know the feature exists, this would be a manual process.
