Update search functionality within project board

Name of Feature/Request: Update search functionality within project board

What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: I would like to be able to search within a project and navigate to that specific task by searching the task number or task type. | Frequency: Depends upon the project | I like the idea of this feature, but I have since found a workaround that I use daily. While viewing a project board, and having a specific sprint/milestone open you can use ‘CRTL’ + ‘F’ to open a search and put in a task number to find a specific task. (as long as your settings for task display include showing the task number) But this workaround relies on the user to know which sprint/milestone to look for that task and have that specific one open. I use this for looking at discussions in one tab and navigating to that task in the project board for SU’s and team meetings.

If the ability were added to search the entire project for a specific task, in name or number, it would reduce the time to find a task, especially for something that has been in active development for years. Still, even one year’s worth of old milestones is a lot to sift through. So as you mentioned, the other workaround that I have begun to use is making a report for a project’s tasks to get an entire list of all tasks in that project. But after creating the report you need to export the report and apply filters to the excel file so that you can search by a partial task name, to look for specific text.

All of this to say - some may not think of these workarounds, and therefore can’t find what they are looking for - do they just give up or how do they find what they are looking for? I am not sure. If the task search functionality could be used within the project then these workarounds would not be needed and it would significantly reduce the time needed to find a specific older requirement/functionality. - Reason - in adoption when new work is requested or it seems like new work, the client might ask for references to the original requirements, and sometimes the only place this information life is in these older tasks. (As some V2rs are not updated as they should throughout the life of a project) Or we might want to clarify if something is new work or related to requests they are making now. This helps us to determine if it is feedback vs. a minor update - and is needed to plan their adoption work, as there are a limited number of points allowed for each budget depending on the client’s plan.

Attempted Solutions So Far: While viewing a project board, and having a specific sprint/milestone open you can use ‘CRTL’ + ‘F’ to open a search and put in a task number to find a specific task. (as long as your settings for task display include showing the task number)
