Name of Feature/Request: Calendar enhancement
What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: The goal is to make the the calendar a bit more “real time” to improve on the already great functionality.Specifically, I find myself wishing for two new features: auto-update/refresh and a visual time indicatorSince it is common practice for people to add things to our calendars – meetings, calls, etc, – and sometimes on rather short notice, it would be great if the calendar could refresh at regular intervals so new appointments show up without refreshing/reloading the page. If appointments are added well into the future, it’s not necessarily a big issue. But if things are added today or tomorrow, or just in the current view, it would be great to have them show up as soon as possible.As somebody who leaves my calendar up all the time, I glance from time to time to remind myself “what’s next?” Almost always, I have to glance at the system tray to get the time, and then follow across visually from the time column on the left of the calendar to see where I am in the day. (I typically use the “work week” view.) I’d find it very helpful if there was a current time indicator similar to what google calendar does.Since moving the indicator requires a background timer refreshing each minute (or a few, depending on the vertical scale), I can’t help thinking that calendar could refresh every 5 - 10 minutes as part of the same general cycle. Another little bonus would be in the process could scroll the window to keep the current time always in view. Alternatively, the calendar could auto-fit vertically (as it tries to do horizontally when narrowing the browser window) so the entire day is always in view.Things to Consider: Maybe the refresh interval should/could be in the config info so people could choose if they wanted their calendar to refresh or not. And maybe the “scroll to current time” is also a setting.Google calendar weekly view with current time indicator:And in the daily view:The little red bar is a great “where am I” indicator. | Frequency: I have my Striven Calendar open literally ALL the time, and while I can’t speak for anybody else, I think this little tweak would be really helpful.
