Automated Task Reassignment Based on Project Board Custom Stages

Name of Feature/Request: Automated Task Reassignment Based on Project Board Custom Stages

What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur with this:

  • Work Process Automation & Time Savings: Eliminates the manual double-step of dragging a card to a new column on a Project Board and then having to manually create a new task or update assignees for that phase.
  • Seamless Handoffs & Quality Control: Ensures tasks immediately land on the right person’s or team’s radar as soon as a project or card reaches a specific stage (e.g., automatically creating a task for the QA/Reviewer when moved to “In Review,” or for a Manager when moved to “Approval Needed”). This prevents projects from sitting idle in a new column without a clear owner or action item.

Attempted solutions so far:

Currently, when a project card is dragged to a custom column/stage on a Project Board, only the stage/status updates. To assign work for that stage, users must manually create a new task separately or reassign team members manually.

Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven:

In agile project management tools (like Trello, Asana, Monday .com, moving a card into a stage column can automatically trigger new task creation, add a co-assignee, or assign a predefined team.

In multi-department workflows (e.g., Design > Development > Quality Assurance > Deployment), different people own different stages of the same overall project. Allowing Striven’s Project Board settings to automatically create tasks for a default assignee or team based on column/stage movements would streamline handoffs across all project-based operations.
