Name of Feature/Request: Allow for system to recognize the same Item in two separate lines as separate quantities on an SO
What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: When the same Item is used on an SO for two different lines with two different prices, allow the system to recognize them separately and pull the quantities based on the line item quantity. | Frequency: At least 1 sales order per week | Customers organize their po’s via project phase. Often, the same item is on multiple phases. We try to match our SO’s to the customer PO. When they say to ship phase 1 we have it ready to go. Sometimes they want the rest of phase 1 and part of phase 2. Keeping all of these phases on 1 SO allows us to organize the order and invoicing using “related to.” Below is an example of a customer’s order for us separated by habitat type they will be planting. Similar Items are highlighted. In our previous ERP, we could track shipping progress to the full ordered amount per item phase (habitat type).Another situation would be if we want to track historical sales for an item (i.e. use the same item code) but our inventory includes quantity bought in at different cost. We may enter one line item for the item at the previous price (cost + markup) and the same item on a second line for the new price (cost + markup). Striven should treat these as distinct line items on a sales order/ invoice.
Attempted Solutions So Far: We need to either sum qty for like items, create a separate SO for like items or a new Item for like items. All of these solutions either miss the goal of why the specific goal is organized this way or lose the ability to report history for a item.
Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven in what system or software: Original Description: We need to either sum qty for like items, create a separate SO for like items or a new Item for like items. All of these solutions either miss the goal of why the specific goal is organized this way or lose the ability to report history for a item. | Previously accomplished: We just realized that the system was not treating line items as separate line items. Other systems (Abecas Insight, Plantiful, Etc.) are able to treat lines on a sales order distinctly. Each of these systems actually have line numbers.
