Name of Feature/Request: Allow a Manufactured Item in a Parent Manufactured Item’s BOM
What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur with this: This will allow to track inventory of sub-assemblies that are used in various parent assemblies. Much time will be saved and errors avoided by not needing to do this manually outside of Striven (as mentioned in next section).
Attempted solutions so far: There is no known solution within Striven. Currently, we either have to a) make sub-assembly an “inventory” item and track its subcomponents’ inventories outside of striven (e.g. excel), or b) include only subcomponents in the parent assembly, and then track inventory of the sub-assemblies manually outside of Striven.
Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven: We have various assemblies that use common sub-assemblies within them. Sometimes those subassemblies are made and one factory and then assembled in the parent assembly at another. Tracking the inventory of both subcomponents and subassemblies in critical, and both cannot be tracked at the same time for a given parent assembly with subassemblies.
