Name of Feature/Request: Add a Merge Field for Description for “Task - Info Email” in Notification and Portal Content
What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: Add a Merge Field for Description for “Task - Info Email” in Notification and Portal Content. | Frequency: Anytime the Task information needs to be emailed. | The request was brought about because we need to send task outcomes to the customers when we’re done with a task. Currently, the only way to send a task report to the customer is to “Email Assignees”, then replace the assignee with the customer in the “To” field of the email. (This is a workaround for the lack of sending functionality on tasks like what’s found on sales orders and invoices, but I’m told that’s already being worked on.) When setting up the email template for this message, there are no merge fields available for any of the existing custom fields. So, in order for our notes to show up in the report to the customer, the notes must be placed in the Description field. This is the only field with a merge field available for this message.
Adding merge fields for existing custom fields would allow us to better organize the information generated in different tasks and provide more freedom in formatting the reports sent to the customer.
As requested, I’ve attached a screenshot of a typical service task report in the Description field. These reports can vary wildly depending on the type and complexity of the task being performed, but the one shown is fairly standard.
