Tax Liability Report - Non-Taxable Column has a negative total

Name of Feature/Request: Tax Liability Report - Non-Taxable Column has a negative total

What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: Improve the Tax Liability report to make it easier for the customer to submit their tax report to their states. | Frequency: Annually for tax reporting to the state of CA | The way the customer is doing their deposit line items on invoices creates a negative balance in their Tax Liability report on the Non-Taxable column. This is throwing off their ability to report accurate numbers to the state.
Additionally there is no total column for gross + tax so there is a lot of manual effort to reconcile this and get to the correct report information needed for the state.

Attempted Solutions So Far: Customer is adjusting their deposit process to ensure they do not run into this in the future, but it would still be best to ensure there is a total column for gross plus tax.
Excel can be used to total the Gross + Tax, but it is more manual.

Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven in what system or software: Original Description: Deposit payment, when received is applied to the deposit invoice, when the order begins to ship and we start to apply the deposit, the order is a taxable sale unless customer is non tax, the transaction amount should be reflected on report since it is a sale that needs to be reported.
In looking over the tax liability report I also noticed that it does not reflect a Total amount (Gross plus tax) | Previously accomplished: Using the tax report and manually reconciling deposit line item amounts against the report
