BOM Scaler

Name of Feature/Request: BOM Scaler

What financial, time savings, or quality of life improvements will occur from this: Have a scale button to automatically scale a manufactured item based on needed final weight. | Frequency: Multiple times per week. | Our business is all based around blending of powdered ingredients into drink mixes. All recipes are based on a 1lb weight, so the BOM needs to add up to 1 pound. When we are in R&D and making changes to recipes for new flavors, tweaks, etc, the amounts can get changed around a lot - once the recipe is good, we need to scale it back to 1 pound to work properly in our workflow. Our old software allowed us to simply click Scale, enter a total weight, and it would adjust all the ingredients correctly to keep the ratios and equal the desired total weight. We are now doing this in Excel because Striven does not support the functionality, which is a lot of manual work.

Attempted Solutions So Far: Attempted to use builds to scale, but this still requires a lot of manual entry.

Digging deep - Any additional Why behind this request / How was this accomplished before Striven in what system or software: Original Description: Our previous ERP and nutrition software have the option to “scale” a recipe - enter a total weight and the software scales up or down the ingredients accordingly. All of our bulk blend recipes need to be 1 pound exactly in order for our production to run properly, so this feature would save us a lot of time where we are currently doing this either manually or using Excel. For example: a recipe with the BOM below: - 0.2 lb Vanilla Flavor- 0.45 lb Sugar- 0.05 lb Cocoa Powder This equals 0.7 lb, but we want it to equal 1 pound. This feature would allow us to enter 1 pound into the total weight field and then click a button like “Adjust BOM to match weight” and it would change the BOM to:

  • 0.28571 lb Vanilla Flavor- 0.64286 lb Sugar- 0.07143 lb Cocoa Powder Items with 0 weight would be ignored (i.e. labor). | Previously accomplished: Done manually using Excel, trial and error.
